ART3110 – Mindful Meditation
The mindfulness meditation was quite relaxing and mind opening. I liked focusing on the air going through my nose, but more specifically the air passing the point that the nasal connects to the throat, centered me. It allowed to stay connected with the moment like Jon Kabat-Zinn explains it should do. As I continued to focus on this section of my body and how the air felt passing through, it made me realize all the things I don’t hear and feel daily. The seagulls’ squawks as they communicate with one another, the sound of laughing children, the water as it splashed upon the sides of the ship, all of it is missed daily, and yet, it is entirely relaxing to hear and observe in the moment. My foot started to fall asleep and drew my mind away occasionally but remembering to focus on the air I breathe brought me back to the moment every time. If I had to rank this meditation style for relaxation and focus, I would give it a 5/5. Thank you for sending this to me and giving me the opportunity to experience the exercise even though I was not present in class.
